The Information Technology Unit is one of the major support sections in the Faculty of Science. Its primary mission is to support the policy of the Faculty by developing and controlling an efficient and effective information technology service. This includes:
- Developing, controlling and maintaining the network systems (SCNet), an essential support system required by the Faculty of Science policy.
- Controlling and maintaining the network server within the Faculty of Science.
- Being responsible for planning and protecting the safe use of the network system aspects within the Faculty of Science.
- Controlling and maintaining computer labs and providing the computers and computer equipment required for their daily operations.
- Providing the computers and computer equipment used by all the administration officers of the Faculty of Science.
- Controlling and maintaining all the computers within the Faculty so that they can be operated effectively and continuously.
- Providing and developing the information technology to support teaching, academic research, administration and academic services.
- Providing and developing different kinds of teaching media to support and enhance teaching and learning.
- Providing an internet and intranet service and advise on their use for all staff and students
- Offering computer programs or courses for staff, students and others
Since the Information Technology Unit was established in 1995 it has developed continuously in many areas. The unit provides the most modern and reliable equipment for the user. The unit is proud to say that The Information Technology Unit is one of the best in the university for providing quality equipment and services with good staff and is well prepared and eager to carry out more development. |
