This unit is responsible for the maintenance and operation of the high-tech Equipment used in the Faculty of Science. It also has the only liquid nitrogen plant in southern Thailand. The Central Equipment Unit also conducts both qualitative and quantitative analysis of elements using an Inductively Coupled Plasma Spectrometer (ICPS). This highly advanced piece of equipment is capable of identifying 70 of the 107 elements currently on the Periodic Chart.
Other specialized equipment in this unit includes :
- X-ray diffractometer with Cu target, Power: 3 kW Max. with search match program on CD-ROM for identification of chemical form and crystal structure parameters of sample (minerals, compounds, semi-conductors, alloy, ceramics, etc.)
- Gas chromatograph with TCD, FID detectors. Application: low boiling point organic compounds analysis in environment, food chemistry, pharmaceutical and natural products.
- Nuclear magnetic resonance spectrometer (NMR) with 60 MHz for observation 1H to identify compounds in chemical, pharmaceutical and clinical analysis.
- Freeze dryer for removal of water or other solvent from frozen product by sublimation, (Products: natural products, enzyme, food chemistry, plasma, serum etc.)
anywhere in the campus or even in the world.
