The Molecular Biotechnology and Bioinformatics Division is located on the 3th floor of the Science and Technology Building. This Division has now incorporated the Genomics and
Bioinformatics Research Center that has previously been in existence at the Prince of Songkla University, the most prestigious university in southern Thailand. The science of biology is
changing rapidly, with the integration of information technology into biological research becoming very important. We have for sometime now recognised the need for providing a university
infrastructure with personnel and skills in mathematics and computing as well as in biology itself and expect that this new structure will help to meet this need.
The objectives of the division are; first, to perform high quality research in molecular biology and bioinformatics, and second, to provide courses that will disseminate basic and advanced
knowledge in biotechnology, molecular biology and bioinformatics. To achieve this, we offer programs for a B.Sc in Biotechnolgy, and M.Sc and Ph.D. degrees in Molecular Biology and
Bioinformatics. Presently, there are 7 full-time teaching staff of which 5 have the Ph.D. degree and 2 have the M.Sc. degree together with 4 supporting staff.
