In 1967, the Department of Chemistry was one of the founding departments in the Faculty of Science of the Prince of Songkla University. The department offers three types of programs for students, i.e. a four-year full-time undergraduate program leading to a B.Sc. Degree, five graduate programs leading to an M.Sc. Degree, and two programs to a Ph. D. Degree.

          There are 40 teaching and 24 supporting staff. Of the teaching staff, 24 have a Ph.D., 6 an M.Sc. and 2 a B.Sc. Eight of the department’s teaching staff are currently (2007) engaged in their Ph.D. studies.

          In the 2007 academic year there were 71 graduate students from around the country working with our academic staff. Twenty of them are Ph.D. students.
